Josh and Samantha brought Sarah and I to the Indianapolis Airport. We had lunch together in the terminal before the first leg of our trip. After a mimosa and a turkey sandwich I was okay to leave my daughter who has not yet seen her second birthday.
Security took longer than I thought but after surrending my “dangerous” hair gel all was safe for me to fly. Luckily the knitting needles were no threat.
Our first leg was IND to Charlotte. Anyone with a map or a Kindergarten education can tell you that NC is the *opposite* direction of CA but the flight was cheap and got us into LAX at a good time.
After $7 for a Baileys that wouldn’t fill a shot glass, we arrived in Charlotte. We had a nice dinner near our gate, only to find that our gate had been moved two terminals down. Sarah and I hauled ass and were the last ones on the plane.
Panting and fearing a heartattack, we started a 6 hour flight to LAX. Sarah read, I knit Ryan a hat. The “woo-hoo Hollywood!!!” excitement was drained out of us as we arrived, battle-scarred.
Our flight was 20 minutes late but the Rulon’s (Gavin & Tamara), who arrived a day before us, picked us up. The Rulons are one of those couples that you aspire to be. They are are so cute and aren’t afraid to cuddle and kiss as if high schoolers. They live in the moment and are so calm and patient. They are amazing people, I love them.

Gavin drove us to the nearest In ‘n’ Out Burger. Okay, it was an hour away in Santa Clarita, but Gavin knew where that one was. I worried that my constant bragging about how good In ‘n’ Out was to Sarah would backfire – I mean, how can a burger stack up to 5 years of talking about it??
I am pleased to say that Sarah was not disappointed as the dozens’ of giddy teenagers (and the Rulons) hung out in the packed burger joint.
I don’t know what time we arrived at the Ganyo’s (Amy & Scott). It was late and the Ganyo girls were in bed (but not asleep) when we got there. We chatted it up and then I went to bed on the Ganyo couch. I say “I went to sleep” because I snore – loudly. I have a feeling that I kept everyone awake. The giggles from the Rulon’s were cute, the glare from Sarah reminded me I needed to remedy the situation….
