Victory at the Gold Awards!!!!

"First They Came for" wins at GAFF

A note from Kate Chaplin:

That’s right, we won!! I can’t believe it, but we did!!! The Gold Award Film Festival (GAFF) honored jury-picked filmmakers with a Gold, Silver or Bronze in the categories of: Music Video, Short, Student Short and shorts fitting in the theme of “Defying Stereotypes.” FTCF won the Silver Award in the later category!! We were all so excited to hear our film called. Scott Ganyo & I accepted the award.

It really was a cool event. It was at the Barnsdale Gallery Theater on Hollywood Blvd. The theater was next to the Hollyhock house built by Frank Lloyd Wright and 3 miles directly east of the Kodak Theater that hosted the Oscars a mear hour later. We did have a red carpet, catered food and were presented with a great mix of live entertainment and films.

This is the second award for FTCF. The first was Sept of 2008 when it won the Audience Award at the INDY Awards. The screening at the GAFF was the first in the national film run screening for FTCF. FTCF has been shown at Indianapolis Festival of Independent Film & Video, Indiana University of South Bend Video and Filmmakers Film Festival, Really Big Short Film Festival, The INDY Awards, InConjunction Sci/fi fantasy convention, Brian Pearce’s premiere of “Illusions of Life” and now at The Gold Award Film Festival.

A HUGE thanks to the entire cast and crew who helped with FTCF. We couldn’t be in this lucky position with out you. Just think not only did you work on a film that showed on Hollywood Blvd but that won! Congrats go out to everyone.

Much Love,

Kate Chaplin
